An Invitation to Participate

Meeting 21st Century Standards to Serve 21st Century Needs

You are invited to become part of an exciting and important project to ensure a historic Canadian home will continue to live out its nearly century long legacy of service to the community and the country.

Friends of The Ralph Connor House are working to raise over $2 million to give Ralph Connor House the essential infrastructure needed to meet 21st century standards and keep valuable programs and spirited participation in the community alive.

This renewal will ensure Ralph Connor House remains open as a place that fosters the work of people committed to community, arts and humanities and as a Manitoba and Canadian historic treasure to be shared by Canadians of all ages.

The House is named after Ralph Connor, the pen name used by Reverend Dr. Charles W. Gordon. Dr. Gordon was a social leader and popular fiction writer of the late 1800s and early 1900s, who wrote 26 novels and other published works. He built and lived in the House with his family for almost 25 years, until his death in 1937.

The University Women’s Club of Winnipeg purchased the House in 1945 and has preserved its structure, décor and furnishings, much as they were. The Club and its members have been a big part of the House and its history. We believe if Reverend Gordon were to visit today, he would be pleased with how the House has evolved and has continued to serve the community as it did a century ago when it was a centre of church and social activity.

We hope you will join with us to become a Friend of Ralph Connor House and help keep its history, legacy and contribution to our country and community alive and ongoing.
